IndianaRottweiler.com 2010 Product Review:
Top Whelping Box System-
“Dura-Whelp”
There is simply nothing more important to a Rottweiler breeder then the health and care of their new Rotti Puppies. The first few weeks of the Rottweiler Puppy’s life is by far the most important and the most critical. Why would you chance even the life of one Rottweiler puppy using a wood whelping box? Overtime urine, bacteria and even disease can penetrate the woods porous surface putting your current Rotties and all future Rotti litters in jeopardy. (Remember your puppies come to this world with a very short lived immunity provided by the Bitch.) Wooden Whelping Boxes are impossible to keep sanitary. Often due to the large size of the Rottweiler Bitch and her puppies some breeders will try to cut corners by purchasing kiddy-wading pools as make-do plastic whelping boxes. This make-do solution may allow for thorough cleansing and a non-porous surface but introduces a far more common and deadly risk to your Rottweiler Puppies, being crushed by the Rottweiler Bitch. For Reference our Rottweiler female is 112# her newborn puppy will be 1#. Should your Rottweiler in an exhausted state role over and lay on a 2 or 3 day old puppy trapping it against the whelping box wall, it’s absolutely too late to wish you had protected them with a Whelping Box that offers “Puppy Rails”.
Alpha & Omega Rottweiler and Indiana Rottweiler.com has studied every Whelping Box option currently on the market. We have spoke with breeders who have lost as many as 4 puppies in a single litter due to the carelessness of the Bitch. We have talked with Veterinarians about the possibility of bacteria and disease and how even one sick puppy in a porous box could not only effect a current litter but the health of future litters. We have also carefully considered where the Bitch and her Litter should be placed in the home. And the last consideration was the proportions of the Whelping Box. We wanted a Whelping Box that was close enough for the Bitch and her Litter in their early weeks and could be expanded for the Litters more mobile time.
Without Reservations the Dura-Whelp Whelping Box and its optional Dura-Whelp Weaning Pen has become the exclusive Whelping System for our Kennel. The Dura-Whelp Whelping Box system fulfills all the demands Alpha & Omega Rottweiler’s have for raising Rottweiler Puppies and providing them with the cleanest and safest early environment. Here is why A&O Rottweilers and IndianaRottweilers.com will only recommend the Dura-Whelp Whelping System.

-Easy to Store. When no longer needed the Dura-Whelp Whelping Box can be disinfected, folded and easily stored for future use; requiring minimum storage space.
-Perfect Selection of Sizes to fit every breed. A&O Rottweilers selected the X-Large Whelping Box 60x48x23 inches. This size will allow for a cozy den-like feel which will later be expanded with the addition of the Weaning Pen.
-Weaning Pen! This add-on Weaning Pen doubles the size and security the Dura-Whelp offers our Rottweiler Puppies as they double in size! Puppies are more easily potty-trained as they are able to exit the Whelping Box and enter the Weaning Pen to play, eat and most importantly poop. When weaning time comes if you have not provided your puppies a separate space from their “den area”, you are teaching them to potty in “their house”.
